Before you hire a lawyer – ever – make sure that lawyer truly has your best interests in mind.
It could significantly impact your life.
Over the past few days, I’ve again seen the tragedy that happens when people hire lawyers who are economically incentivized (due to practicing under the traditional, old paradigm model) to do harm and escalate fear.
Unfortunately, this is more of the norm than any of us would like to see and I share this reminder so you can ensure you are not sucked in by this paradigm.
And so you can choose wisely when you are in need of good lawyering support.
The illness of the legal profession is hidden and insidious and preys on the worst part of us for the personal gain of lawyers who simply don’t know any better.
As some of you know, I train lawyers.
I do it because I went to law school to make a difference in people’s lives and I quickly saw that in too many cases, lawyers are being corrupted by the economic model of lawyering to do more harm than good.
Today, I teach a New Law Business Model to give lawyers a model that aligns their desire to truly help and serve w the economics of building a life and practice they love.
My hardest job by far is finding lawyers who can make the shifts in their consciousness to actually do this work.
The conditioning is so deep.
It’s up to you to have your eyes open to this conditioning in your hiring process.
This can be challenging because typically when you are hiring a lawyer you are already in fear or conflict and easily sucked into more of the same.
Here’s what you can do …
If you talk to a lawyer who is escalating your fear rather than supporting you to find a space of calm and de-escalating conflict or fear, pause.
Do not hire that lawyer.
When you need a lawyer, always seek one who opens your heart more, who calms your fears, who focuses on solutions and resolution.
The fate of your life and our world depends on it.
